This year was the first year that I received a Mother's Day card. No, I don't have two legged children, but my two furry felines are the best. My two roommates bring me so much happiness.
I'm an animal lover through and through. I grew up with hamsters, fish, dogs, cats, rabbits, even hermit crabs. There is something so comforting about the sound of a cat purring, the feel of a dog at your feet on a cold winter night. My cats are my babies and let me tell you, they are so spoiled.

Since I work from home and I live alone, I don't get out of the house a lot during the week. I am so busy all the time (which I love!) but not having much human interaction is horrible. That's where these two furry friends come in.
Sabrina is the oldest. My family and I adopted her when we found her in a dumpster left as the runt of the litter by her mother. She was all of 4 weeks old and she had the sweetest little mew as she tried to learn how to meow. She's been blind in one eye for her entire life and at her most recent vet visit, we learned that she only has one tooth left. She's my 17 year old little ball of fur.
Even though she's 17, you don't want to mess with her. We call her Sabrina Sassafras or Sassy, for a reason. This cat isn't afraid of anything. The 80 pound family dog wanted to play with her once and she wasn't interested and she actually clawed his face so hard that her nail ended up in his chin. She's my feisty girl.
Now Jet is another story. Jet has always had a special attachment to me. He's a big ball of mush and really just wants all the love and attention in the world. However, when he's done with being pet, he'll let you know with a big old swat! He's overweight, but that's just because I love him so much that I can't say no to giving him a good amount of treats.
Jet is 14 but that doesn't stop him from constantly playing. He loves to hunt and he's got more toys than I did as a kid. I can't help but spoil him whenever I see pet toys. His favorite is his laser pointer and his teaser wands.
I love that I work a job that allows me to stay home and love on my felines all day long. I talk to them about everything that's bothering me. They know when something is wrong and I need some love. They follow me around and almost every time I come home, they greet me at the door just like a dog would.
There is something so special about the bond of a human and it's animal companions. Sabrina and Jet are my stress relievers, my joy, my laughter, and they love me unconditionally. I miss them when I'm not with them and I love them just as much as they love me.
If you've never had a pet, I highly suggest getting one. I know it's the best decision I've ever made.
