If you should know anything about me, it's that I absolutely love to travel. During COVID-19, this has been the longest time that I've been in the same place and it's KILLING me. If every week I could be on a plane going somewhere new, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I grew up very fortunate that my family always felt the need to take us on vacation every summer. I didn't go to the Jersey shore like most people did, I went to landmarks all over the country. I've walked the Freedom Trail in Boston, I've stepped back into colonial America as I explored Colonial Williamsburg, I've been on Civil War battlefields when I went to Gettysburg. I drove a Lamborghini around a NASCAR track in Las Vegas.
There is nothing more exciting to me than traveling on a plane. I love early mornings at airports where the excitement in my stomach is making me as nauseous as can be. I love the lack of sleep in hotels, wandering around at the early hours of the morning while my friends sleep in. I love finding new and exciting places to visit and immersing myself in the culture and climate.
I think that's why I am such a museum junkie. I love learning, I always have. I am also an avid reader, where I love getting lost in new and (sometimes) fantasy worlds. I love to think about all the places I haven't been and what I will do when I get there someday. Everyone always tells me that now is the time to travel, while I'm young, while I don't have kids or a husband to tie me down, while I have the money. I personally can't wait until the next time I can get on a plane and just go somewhere.
If anything, 2020 has taught me to appreciate all those travels more than anything because they can be taken away from you. I'm the complete definition of wanderlust; simply put it's the desire to wander. I've always been a curious kid, a kid who loved to learn, a kid who loved to understand why things were the way they were.
I made my love of traveling work for me. A few years ago, I was approached by a colleague about potentially being the lead travel blogger for his company. I explored it a little bit, thought it through, and decided to go for it. Thank God I had the curiosity and desire to explore a new avenue of writing.
While being a travel blogger for a few years, I went to countless attractions and museums. I've been to Broadway musicals that I could have only dreamed of attending.
This blog is shorter than most of what I write, but I want to share my gallery of all the different places I've been. The gallery is not meant to brag, but I'm such a better person for going to all of these places. Each trip has taught me something; wether it be history of our country, the importance of family time, or the beauty in and of traveling alone.
In the end, if you've never traveled, do it. I promise you that getting out of your town, state, and even country can help you understand the rest of the world. I'm forever grateful for every trip because they've all taught me something.
